Cake Balls with Sugar and Cocoa Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 packet chocolate pound cake
  • 1 teaspoon saffron
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

Covering

  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Decoration

  • Chopped hazelnuts

Preparation

  1. Bring a shallow-rimmed tray and set it aside.

  2. In a deep bowl, crumble the cake into small pieces and add the saffron and sweetened condensed milk.

  3. With your fingertips, mix the ingredients to form a cohesive dough.

  4. Take portions of the dough about the size of a walnut, shape them into small balls, and place them in the tray. Continue until all dough is used.

  5. For the covering: In a deep bowl, place the sifted powdered sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder and gradually add the milk.

  6. Using a hand whisk, mix to create a smooth sauce.

  7. Place the balls in a suitable serving dish, spread the sauce over them, and serve immediately.
