Christmas Spiced Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 200 ml Milk
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 5 Cloves
  • 20 g Fresh Ginger
  • 40 g Dark Chocolate, sugar-free if possible
  • 1 tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Gingerbread Spice, optional
  • 1 tbsp Xylitol, or honey or sugar as alternative
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Milk, optional
  • 1 tbsp Protein Powder, optional

Toppings

  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • A Pinch of Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Cream or Whipped Cream
  • 1 tbsp Mini Marshmallows

Preparation

  1. In a pot, bring the milk together with the spices to a boil.

  2. Stir in the chocolate and let it melt by constant stirring.

  3. Stir in the cocoa powder and, if desired, add the coconut milk and gingerbread spice.

  4. Now mix in the xylitol and sweeten to taste.

  5. If you want to make it a protein hot chocolate, stir in a tablespoon of protein powder (chocolate or vanilla).

  6. Let everything simmer for 5 minutes and strain through a sieve into a cup.

Optional decorations

  1. Optionally, decorate the hot chocolate with whipped cream, coconut cream, mini marshmallows, cinnamon, and cinnamon sticks.
