Malaysian Brown Sugar Steamed Cake
Ingredients
Bottom layer
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons tapioca flour
- 3 cups water
- A little slaked lime water
Top layer
- 3 cups coconut milk
- 1 cup wheat flour
- A little salt, for example 2 teaspoons fine salt
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Preparation
Cook the brown sugar, white sugar, and 2 cups of water until dissolved and let cool.
Mix with the wheat flour, tapioca flour, 3 cups of water, and slaked lime water until smooth and strain.
Preheat the steamer.
Grease the pan with a little oil to prevent sticking.
Steam the bottom layer for 20 minutes.
If there is water on the surface, gently wipe it with tissue.
Score the surface with a fork.
Mix all the top layer ingredients together and stir well.
Strain the top layer mixture.
Pour it over the bottom layer.
Steam again for 20 minutes or until cooked.
Serve and enjoy.
