Simple Homemade Canned Peaches
Ingredients
- Peaches (enough to fill 660 cc jars)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar per jar
- Water (to fill jars)
Preparation
Wash the peaches thoroughly.
Peel and slice the peaches.
Pack the sliced peaches into jars up to the top.
Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar to each jar.
Fill the jars with water up to the top.
Seal the jars tightly.
Place a cloth or towel in a large pot and arrange the jars upside down on it.
Add water to the pot until it reaches halfway up the jars.
Bring the water to a boil and boil for 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the jars cool to room temperature.
Store the jars in a cool place away from sunlight.
Tips
The cloth in the pot prevents jars from breaking during boiling.
Once opened, the peaches can be eaten as a compote.
Blend to make fruit juice.
Use for baby food by pureeing.
Cook with starch to make fruit jelly for desserts and pastries.
Can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 years without refrigeration.
