Traditional Malaysian Glutinous Rice Wajik
Ingredients
- 1 kg glutinous rice
- 1 kg palm sugar
- 2 cups white sugar
- Coconut milk as needed (approximately 600g for 1kg rice)
- Pandan leaves
Preparation
Soak the glutinous rice for 4-5 hours and steam it as usual, then allow it to cool
Cook the palm sugar and strain it first
Add the white sugar
Add the coconut milk and pandan leaves
Cook until almost thick, but not too thick
Add the steamed rice
Stir again until the mixture is somewhat thick and sticky
Turn off the heat and transfer to a container
Tips
Ensure the mixture is not too thick or too runny for the best texture
