Stale Bread Borek with Eggs and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 stale bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4-5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • a handful of parsley
  • 1.5 cups grated kasar cheese
  • 1 cup lor cheese (or white cheese)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Preparation

  1. First, slice the stale bread.

  2. Take a baking dish and arrange the bread slices tightly.

  3. Chop the parsley and red pepper on a cutting board.

  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vegetable oil, red pepper flakes, and salt.

  5. Add the chopped parsley and lor cheese to the mixture and stir well.

  6. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices.

  7. Place the chopped red pepper on top.

  8. Sprinkle the grated kasar cheese over the top.

  9. Bake in a preheated 175-degree Celsius oven, using top-bottom heat without fan, for 20 minutes.

  10. Serve once nicely browned.

Tips

  1. You can use fresh bread instead of stale bread.

  2. Optionally, use green pepper or add other ingredients like tomatoes, green peppers, or diced sausage.

  3. Lor cheese can be substituted with white cheese.
