Classic Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 30g melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 150g beef cut into strips
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • Olive oil as needed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • A dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese

Preparation

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add the beef, onion, and red bell pepper; sauté until the beef is browned and vegetables are softened.

  3. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.

  4. Spread cream cheese on two slices of bread.

  5. Place the beef mixture on the bread, top with cheddar cheese slices, and cover with the remaining bread slices.

  6. Brush the outside of the sandwiches with melted butter.

  7. Toast in a sandwich maker until golden and cheese is melted.

Notes

  1. This sandwich originates from Philadelphia and is made with beef and plenty of cheese.

  2. Use an Oster sandwich maker for toasting as recommended.
