Finger-Licking Good Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage
- 200 grams ground meat
- 3 cups rice
- half bunch dill and parsley
- 1 large onion
- 2 tomatoes pureed
- 1 tablespoon pepper paste
- 1 tablespoon sweet red pepper powder
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried mint
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Sauce
- 100 grams butter
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5 cups hot water
Preparation
Prepare the cabbage by cleaning it, blanching in boiling water for one minute, rinsing with hot water, draining, and setting aside
Prepare the filling by mixing all the ingredients thoroughly
Roll the cabbage leaves with the filling to make the rolls
Line the bottom of the pot with cabbage pieces
Arrange the cabbage rolls in the pot
Prepare the sauce by heating the butter, adding tomato paste and sautéing briefly, then adding hot water and salt, and bringing to a boil
Pour the sauce over the arranged rolls
Cover the rolls with additional cabbage leaves
Place a durable porcelain plate on top of the rolls
Cover the pot and cook on low heat for about one hour
Tips
Monitor the water level during cooking and add more water and salt if necessary to keep it covering the rolls
Adjust the cooking time as needed based on your preference
