Fried Mackerel with Dabu-Dabu Sambal
Ingredients
- 5 mackerel fish
- Lime juice (for marination)
- Salt (for marination)
- Pepper (for marination)
Sambal
- 1 large red tomato
- 2 small green tomatoes
- 10 red shallots
- 5 curly chilies
- 10 red bird's eye chilies
- 15 green bird's eye chilies
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt, to taste
- Sugar, to taste
Preparation
Marinate the mackerel with lime juice, salt, and pepper.
Fry the marinated mackerel until crispy and set aside.
Mix all the sambal ingredients together.
Pour the sambal over the fish just before serving.
Tips
The fish can be substituted with other types of fish, crispy fish, fried chicken, or fried tofu.
Adjust the chili quantities according to personal preference.
Lime can be replaced with calamansi or lemon for a better aroma.
