Basic Bread and Savory Pastry Dough
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup oil
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 5 grams (about half a packet) active dry yeast
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (approximately) warm or room temperature milk
Preparation
Mix all ingredients except milk in a large bowl
Gradually add warm milk until the dough comes together and is not too sticky
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in volume
Shape the dough into rolls or desired shapes, with or without filling
Place shaped dough on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise until nearly doubled
Brush with beaten egg
Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C until golden brown
