Toasted Sesame and Honey Nut Bar
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rasna Native Haat Honey
- 2 cups raw sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup almonds or pistachios
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- optional: orange zest
- 1-2 tablespoons orange juice
- optional: cardamom seeds
- optional: vanilla extract
Preparation
In a pan, toast the sesame seeds and almonds for 5-7 minutes on low to medium heat.
Spread the toasted mixture on a flat tray and let it cool.
Take 1/2 cup almonds and roast them for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and chop into small to medium pieces.
Zest the orange and set aside. Extract 2 tablespoons of juice from the same orange.
Heat the honey in a medium pan and bring to a boil.
Add 2 tablespoons orange juice, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon orange zest. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and cook the mixture for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Pour the toasted seeds and chopped almonds into the honey mixture and mix well until combined.
Brush a tray with oil, pour the mixture onto it, and spread evenly.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 20 minutes to harden.
Cut into preferred size and shape, and enjoy with friends and family.
