Vegan Tofu Bacon for BLT

Ingredients

  • 450 g firm tofu, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for baking sheet)
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

  1. Mix the onion powder, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to create a marinade

  2. Coat the thinly sliced tofu with the marinade and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes

  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C

  4. Oil a baking sheet with the remaining 2 tablespoons vegetable oil.

  5. Arrange the marinated tofu slices on the baking sheet and bake until crispy, about 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through
