Jain Capsicum Stir-Fry Dish
Ingredients
- Oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander-cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 medium bell pepper, finely chopped
- Spoonful of water
- 1 teaspoon gram flour
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Less than 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Preparation
Heat up the pan
Add some oil
Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Add a pinch of asafoetida powder
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Add 2 teaspoons coriander-cumin powder
Add salt as per taste
Fry for a minute
Add 1 medium sized capsicum cut into small cubes
Add some water to avoid burning masala
Cover the lid and cook for 5 minutes until it is tender
Add 1 teaspoon gram flour
Mix it well and add 1/2 lemon juice
Add less than 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Mix it, cover the lid and cook for another 5 minutes
Turn off the heat and transfer to a serving plate
Tips
Keep the capsicum slightly crunchy for the best taste
Serve warm with roti or khakra
