Crispy Overnight Yeasted Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2.5 cups oat milk
Morning additions
- 1/4 cup avocado oil or melted butter
- 2 tablespoons ground flax
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and oat milk together in a large glass or plastic bowl, cover, and let sit on the counter overnight.
In the morning, add the avocado oil or melted butter, ground flax, baking powder, and salt to the yeasted batter and mix well.
Let the batter sit for 5 minutes while heating your waffle maker.
Spray the waffle maker with oil, fill it with batter according to your maker's size, and cook for 6-8 minutes depending on the heat.
Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200°F oven until ready to eat.
Tips
Waffles are extra crispy and flavorful due to the yeast and overnight rise.
The overnight process breaks down the flour, making it easier to digest and reducing bloating.
Reheat waffles in a toaster or air fryer at 320°F for 3 minutes for best results.
