Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Bread Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (200ml)
  • 1/2 cup water (100ml)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (100ml)
  • 1 tablespoon yeast (6g)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (10g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (8g)
  • 5 cups flour (500g)

Filling

  • 200g white cheese
  • 150g spinach
  • 10 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 egg white
  • Salt and black pepper

Topping

  • 1 egg yolk
  • Kashar cheese

Preparation

  1. Mix lukewarm water, lukewarm milk, sugar, and yeast, then add the remaining dough ingredients to form a soft, non-sticky dough, cover, and let it rise for 40 minutes.

  2. Prepare the filling by mixing cheese, finely chopped spinach, olive oil, egg white, salt, and black pepper.

  3. After the dough has risen, punch it down and gently shape it, then roll it out to the size of a baking tray with a little flour, place on parchment paper in the tray, and let it rise again for 20 minutes.

  4. Once the second rise is complete, shape it using an ice cube tray as shown in the video, spread the egg yolk over it, add the filling, top with grated kashar cheese, and bake at 190°C until done.

Tips

  1. You can use alternative fillings such as minced meat, mushrooms, pizza-style, chicken, or potato.

  2. Optionally, speed up the rising process in a preheated 50°C oven.
