Vanilla Bourbon Glazed Salmon

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp. Simply Organic® Crushed Red Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. Simply Organic® Pure Madagascar Vanilla Extract
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • Sea or Himalayan pink salt, to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Green onion, thinly sliced, optional

Preparation

  1. Place a small saucepan over medium heat and add bourbon, brown sugar, butter, red pepper flakes and soy sauce.

  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat slightly and simmer for about 5 minutes, until glaze starts to thicken.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

  4. Season each salmon fillet with salt to taste and heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Add oil to heated skillet.

  6. Place fillets in skillet skin side up and sear until golden brown, then carefully flip over.

  7. Brush salmon with glaze.

  8. After a minute or two, brush again.

  9. Repeat until all glaze is used and salmon is cooked through to 145 degrees.

  10. Serve warm with thinly sliced green onion.
