Vegan Bbq Tofu with Gochujang Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2/3 package extra firm organic tofu, drained and pressed well to remove water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1.5 cups steamed broccoli florets cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup edamame
  • 1 cup cooked noodles
  • Cilantro, sauteed mushrooms, sesame seeds, scallions, red chili flakes for garnish

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp gochujang sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1.5 tbsp agave or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce

Preparation

  1. Cut tofu into thin pieces

  2. Add oil to a large pan and place tofu so the pieces are not overlapping (you may need to do this in 2 batches)

  3. Cook until lightly browned (about 5 minutes depending on thickness) then flip and cook another 3 minutes

  4. Meanwhile, whisk together sauce in a bowl

  5. When tofu is cooked, add sauce and toss to coat

  6. Serve with steamed broccoli, edamame, cooked noodles, and garnish with cilantro, sauteed mushrooms, sesame seeds, scallions, and red chili flakes

Tips

  1. You can pair the tofu with your choice of vegetables and/or noodles for a great meal

  2. The sauce really permeates the tofu and gets a bit caramelized

  3. You can find gochujang sauce online or in most grocery stores. It's so tangy and flavorful
