Cozy Apple Pie Inspired Oats
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup oats (quick or rolled)
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- Pinch of cardamom
- 2 tablespoons chopped dried apples
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Toppings
- 1 Fuji apple (thinly sliced)
- 1 teaspoon sweetener of choice (e.g., date syrup)
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon water
- Berries (as desired)
- Pepitas (as desired)
- Hemp seeds (as desired)
Preparation
Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a low medium heat to simmer.
Stir oats with a spoon or spatula as it cooks for about 3 minutes.
Remove from stovetop and top oatmeal as desired.
Thinly slice a Fuji apple for the topping.
Cook the apple slices on the stovetop with 1 teaspoon of sweetener, a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of water until browned and softened.
Pour the cooked apples over the oatmeal.
