Tasty Vegan Chickpeas Cooked in Air Fryer with Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tbs tomato puree
- 3 tbs maple syrup
- 2 tsp vegan Worcester sauce
- 1 tsp garlic puree
- 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cider vinegar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbs of water
- a little coconut sugar (optional)
- 1 can of chickpeas
Preparation
Rinse and dry the chickpeas with a kitchen towel.
Place chickpeas in air fryer and cook at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes, tossing occasionally to ensure even cooking until they are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle.
For the sauce, combine all the sauce ingredients (tomato puree, maple syrup, vegan Worcester sauce, garlic puree, tamari or soy sauce, liquid smoke if using, cider vinegar, salt, and water) and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding coconut sugar if needed.
Warm a little of the sauce over low heat.
Toss the cooked chickpeas in the warmed sauce to coat them nicely.
