Classic Turkish Stuffed Onions

Ingredients

  • 4-5 onions
  • 2 cups water
  • Olive oil

Filling

  • 1 cup rice
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • Parsley
  • Olive oil
  • Spices to taste, such as red pepper flakes, chili powder, black pepper, thyme, cumin, and mint

Preparation

  1. Prepare the filling by mixing the ingredients together.

  2. Cut the onions to the middle and boil them in boiling water.

  3. Separate the layers of the boiled onions.

  4. Stuff the onion layers with the filling mixture and wrap them tightly.

  5. Arrange the stuffed onions in a pot.

  6. Add 2 cups of water and a bit of olive oil, cover the pot, and cook until done.
