Indonesian Crispy Fried Tempeh
Ingredients
- 125g all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp rice flour
- 200ml water
- Green onions
- 2 pieces of thin tempeh
Spice blend
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Preparation
Mix the flour, water, and spice blend evenly. Add the green onions and mix well.
Dip the tempeh into the batter and fry until half-dry, then remove, drain, and serve.
Tips
Mendoan is traditionally fried until half-cooked, but you can fry it until crispy if you prefer.
Use special thin tempeh for authentic results.
