Colored Mahlabia Pudding Discs

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 10 mastic tears
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1 cup fine coconut

For decoration

  • Food coloring
  • Dried rose

Preparation

  1. Get tall straight-sided glasses

  2. In a saucepan, put milk, flour, starch, sugar, mastic, and rose water

  3. Using a whisk, mix to combine

  4. Place the saucepan on heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens like custard

  5. Pour the mixture into the glasses, and if desired, add a few drops of food coloring before it sets, using a wooden stick to mix and distribute the color

  6. Refrigerate the glasses for several hours until fully chilled

  7. Remove the pudding from the glasses, using a thin wooden stick to help release air and ease removal

  8. Using a knife, cut the pudding into discs about half an inch thick or as desired

  9. Roll the discs in coconut to coat

  10. Place a rose in the center of each disc for decoration and serve cold
