Colored Mahlabia Pudding Discs
Ingredients
- 4 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 10 mastic tears
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 cup fine coconut
For decoration
- Food coloring
- Dried rose
Preparation
Get tall straight-sided glasses
In a saucepan, put milk, flour, starch, sugar, mastic, and rose water
Using a whisk, mix to combine
Place the saucepan on heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens like custard
Pour the mixture into the glasses, and if desired, add a few drops of food coloring before it sets, using a wooden stick to mix and distribute the color
Refrigerate the glasses for several hours until fully chilled
Remove the pudding from the glasses, using a thin wooden stick to help release air and ease removal
Using a knife, cut the pudding into discs about half an inch thick or as desired
Roll the discs in coconut to coat
Place a rose in the center of each disc for decoration and serve cold
