Brazilian Water Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup hot water
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Preparation
Preheat the oven to low temperature
In a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar for 10 minutes
In a bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder; set aside
In another bowl, combine the hot water and vanilla extract
Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the water
Gently fold the batter with a wire whisk, using a bottom-to-top motion
Pour the batter into a buttered and floured 9x9-inch baking pan
Bake for about 35 minutes at low temperature
