Brazilian Water Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to low temperature

  2. In a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar for 10 minutes

  3. In a bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder; set aside

  4. In another bowl, combine the hot water and vanilla extract

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the water

  6. Gently fold the batter with a wire whisk, using a bottom-to-top motion

  7. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured 9x9-inch baking pan

  8. Bake for about 35 minutes at low temperature
