Easy One-Bowl School Cake
Ingredients
- 200g butter
- 200g sugar
- 200g self raising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla flavouring
- 3 - 5 tbsp milk (adjust as needed)
Icing
- 200g icing sugar
- water or milk (add 1 tbsp at a time)
- hundreds and thousands
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Place all the ingredients for the cake except the milk and whisk using a hand or stand mixer until smooth. Now add the milk and whisk again.
Pour the cake batter into a lined cake tin and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a skewer pushed into the centre comes out clean. Once baked, leave the cake to cool to one side.
Only make the icing when you are ready to ice the cooled cake. Mix the icing sugar and water or milk together until you reach a smooth ribbon-like consistency. Pour this over the cake, smooth out and add your sprinkles straight away, as the icing starts to set immediately. Leave to set for 1 hour and then slice up and enjoy.
