Egg Foo Young with Savory Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 100g chicken and peeled shrimp, minced
  • 1/2 carrot, sliced matchstick-style
  • 50g cabbage, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50g canned peas
  • 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 1 glass water
  • Salt and sugar to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in water as needed

Preparation

  1. Beat the eggs, add salt and pepper, and mix well.

  2. Add the chicken, shrimp, carrot, cabbage, green onions, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly.

  3. Heat a pan with oil, pour in the mixture, cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook until done.

  4. For the sauce, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add water and bring to a boil. Add peas, tomato sauce, chili sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and sugar. Adjust seasoning. Add cornstarch slurry to thicken, and cook until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.

  5. Serve the Egg Foo Young with the sauce poured over.
