Starch Ghribah Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups starch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/4 cup flour

Decoration

  • melted chocolate
  • finely ground pistachio

Preparation

  1. Prepare shallow-edged trays and preheat oven to 180°C.

  2. Sift the starch, baking powder, and flour, then set aside.

  3. In the mixer bowl, place sugar, egg whites, vanilla, and butter; attach the whisk and beat until the mixture is fluffy.

  4. Remove the whisk and attach the paddle, add the flour and starch mixture, mix gently until combined.

  5. Take a little dough between your fingertips and shape into small balls.

  6. Place the balls on the tray with space between each piece.

  7. Bake the ghribah for 10 minutes; you will notice some cracks on the surface which is characteristic due to the starch, then let it cool completely.

  8. Decorate with chocolate and pistachio, then serve.
