Authentic Turkish ŞEkerpare Dessert
Ingredients
- 125g butter or margarine, at room temperature
- 1 teacup vegetable oil
- 1 teacup powdered sugar
- 1 teacup semolina
- 2 eggs, with one yolk for brushing
- 1 vanilla
- 1 baking powder
- 1 grated lemon zest
- 1.5-2 cups flour
Sherbet
- 2.5 cups sugar
- 2.5 cups water
- 2-3 drops lemon juice
Preparation
Knead the dough mixture and form into desired shapes.
Brush the tops with egg yolk and optionally coat with nuts like hazelnuts or pistachios.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
Boil the sherbet ingredients together until syrupy, then cool.
Pour the cold syrup over the hot baked şekerpare.
Notes
Ensure the dessert is hot and the syrup is cold when combining.
