Kalburabastı Turkish Syrup Dessert

Ingredients

Syrup

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3.5 cups water
  • 6-7 drops lemon juice

Dough

  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet vanilla
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 5-6 cups flour
  • walnuts

Preparation

  1. Bring the syrup ingredients to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes and let cool.

  2. Mix all dough ingredients in a bowl and knead to form a dough.

  3. Shape the dough and add walnuts.

  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C until golden brown.

  5. Pour the cold syrup over the warm baked dessert.

Notes

  1. Add flour gradually as the amount may vary.
