Delicious Homemade Tortilla Bread

Ingredients

  • 380 grams corn or wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons oil or melted butter
  • 170 grams warm water

Preparation

  1. Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.

  2. Add the oil or melted butter and warm water to form a dough.

  3. Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes.

  4. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions.

  5. Roll each portion into a thin circle.

  6. Heat a cast iron pan over low heat until very hot.

  7. Cook each tortilla on the pan until browned on both sides.

Tips

  1. Always use a cast iron pan for cooking due to even heat distribution.

  2. For warm water, boil it and let it cool slightly.

  3. Ensure the rolled dough is not too thin or too thick.

  4. Using baking powder is optional and helps make the bread softer.

  5. Do not increase the heat when heating the pan.

  6. For freezer storage, wrap the breads in cloth and place in a freezer bag.

  7. You can use a gas flame to reheat them.
