Eggless Sesame Seed Cookies
Ingredients
- 50 gm white sesame seeds (mildly roasted)
- more sesame seeds (to coat cookies)
- 50 gm butter (at room temperature)
- 30 ml oil (odourless)
- 50 gm powder sugar (churned and sieved)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- Pinch of salt
- 100 gm plain flour (maida or wheat flour)
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- Water (to dip cookies)
Preparation
Coarsely grind 50 gm white sesame seeds (mildly roasted)
In a mixing bowl take 50 gm butter (at room temperature)
Add 30 ml oil (odourless) and whisk well
Add 50 gm powder sugar (churned and sieved) and whisk well
Add 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Add a pinch of salt and mix it
Add the churned sesame seeds mixture
Add 100 gm plain flour (maida or wheat flour)
Add 1.5 tsp baking powder
Combine everything together to make a dough
Shape into small even cookies
Gently dip them into water and then coat into sesame seeds
Place them in a baking tray along with parchment paper
Preheat oven for 15 minutes at 170°C and bake for 20-25 minutes
For stove baking, set up a steamer with a stand
Preheat steamer for 20-25 minutes
Place tray in steamer, cover lid with a cloth, and bake on slow flame for 35 minutes
Let all cookies cool down
