Eggless Sesame Seed Cookies

Ingredients

  • 50 gm white sesame seeds (mildly roasted)
  • more sesame seeds (to coat cookies)
  • 50 gm butter (at room temperature)
  • 30 ml oil (odourless)
  • 50 gm powder sugar (churned and sieved)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • Pinch of salt
  • 100 gm plain flour (maida or wheat flour)
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • Water (to dip cookies)

Preparation

  1. Coarsely grind 50 gm white sesame seeds (mildly roasted)

  2. In a mixing bowl take 50 gm butter (at room temperature)

  3. Add 30 ml oil (odourless) and whisk well

  4. Add 50 gm powder sugar (churned and sieved) and whisk well

  5. Add 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

  6. Add a pinch of salt and mix it

  7. Add the churned sesame seeds mixture

  8. Add 100 gm plain flour (maida or wheat flour)

  9. Add 1.5 tsp baking powder

  10. Combine everything together to make a dough

  11. Shape into small even cookies

  12. Gently dip them into water and then coat into sesame seeds

  13. Place them in a baking tray along with parchment paper

  14. Preheat oven for 15 minutes at 170°C and bake for 20-25 minutes

  15. For stove baking, set up a steamer with a stand

  16. Preheat steamer for 20-25 minutes

  17. Place tray in steamer, cover lid with a cloth, and bake on slow flame for 35 minutes

  18. Let all cookies cool down
