Mortadella Flower Pastries

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup corn oil
  • 1 cup water

Glazing

  • 1 egg

Filling

  • 12 slices mortadella

Preparation

  1. In the mixer bowl, put 2 cups of flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, milk, salt, and garlic, attach the dough hook and mix for a few seconds to combine the ingredients, add oil and water, and mix on low speed for 4 minutes until a smooth dough forms, adding more flour if needed, then cover and let it rise in a warm place.

  2. Get a large tray and you can place a piece of parchment paper on it.

  3. Get a cutter that matches the size of the mortadella slice.

  4. Sprinkle some flour on the table surface.

  5. Roll out the dough using a rolling pin, then use the cutter to cut it into 24 circles, depending on the size of the mortadella used.

  6. Place a mortadella slice on top of a circle, then place another circle on top and press lightly to stick them together.

  7. Use a knife to cut the edges of the dough without reaching the center, making about 8 cuts.

  8. Take the cut end of the dough and twist it around itself, repeat with the rest to form a flower shape, then place them on the tray with space between each piece.

  9. Set the oven rack in the middle and preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

  10. Brush the surface of the dough with egg.

  11. Bake the pastries for 20 minutes or until golden brown, then serve warm.
