Thicker Crust Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 (320ml) cups warm water
- 7g sachet instant yeast
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp EV olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Preparation
Whisk the water, yeast, and sugar together in a large bowl. Cover and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
Add the olive oil, salt, and flour and mix well with a wooden spoon or spatula.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead the dough for 5 minutes until the dough feels a little soft and smooth. (You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step).
Lightly grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough in the bowl, turning it to coat all sides in the oil.
Cover and allow the dough to rise at room temperature for 60-90 minutes or until double in size.
When the dough is ready, punch it down to release any air bubbles.
Preheat oven to 250C and lightly grease a baking tray. Allow the baking tray to heat in the oven for at least 15-20 minutes as you shape the pizza.
Divide the dough in half and on a lightly floured surface gently flatten the dough into a circle using a rolling pin or your hands – about 25cm in diameter and about 1cm thick.
Carefully place on the heated baking tray. Brush the top lightly with olive oil and top with your favourite toppings.
Bake for 13-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
