Brazilian Creamy Ground Beef Pie

Ingredients

Crust

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 50g heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • Oil and flour for greasing and dusting the pan

Filling

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tomato, deseeded and chopped
  • 1 packet beef seasoning powder
  • Salt and chopped parsley to taste
  • 1 cup cheddar-flavored cream cheese
  • 50g heavy cream

Preparation

Filling

  1. Heat oil in a medium pan over medium heat and fry ground beef and onion for 5 minutes or until dry

  2. Add mushrooms, tomato, seasoning, salt, and parsley and sautΓ© for 3 minutes

  3. Turn off heat, let cool, then mix in cream cheese and heavy cream

Crust and assembly

  1. Blend eggs, milk, heavy cream, oil, and salt in a blender until homogeneous

  2. Transfer to a bowl and mix in cornstarch, flour, and baking powder with a spoon

  3. Pour half the batter into a greased and floured 25cm x 35cm baking dish

  4. Distribute the filling over the batter and cover with the remaining batter

  5. Bake in a preheated medium oven for 30 minutes or until cooked and golden

  6. Let cool and serve in pieces
