Homemade Pizza with Vegetable Toppings
Ingredients
Crust
- 250 g high-protein flour
- 163 ml room temperature water
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp olive oil
Sauce
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 4 fresh red tomatoes, blanched, skinned, seeded, chopped or blended
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 150 ml water
- Sugar, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Italian seasoning or dried oregano, thyme, parsley
- Onion powder (optional)
- Paprika powder (optional)
Toppings
- Sautéed mushrooms, as desired
- Bell peppers, as desired
- Onions, as desired
- Mozzarella cheese, as desired
Preparation
Mix flour, water, and yeast, and knead until half smooth.
Add salt and olive oil to the dough and knead until smooth, then let rest for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, for the sauce, heat oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
Add fresh tomatoes and water to the sauce, bring to a boil, then add tomato paste and all seasonings.
Cook the sauce on low heat until thickened.
Preheat oven to 250°C with top and bottom heat.
Roll out the pizza dough as desired.
Spread the sauce on the dough and sprinkle mozzarella cheese.
Add toppings, then a little more mozzarella cheese to bind.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and cooked.
Remove from oven and serve warm.
Tips
The dough can be used for thin or thick crust pizza.
Toppings can be customized to personal preference.
