Easy Homemade Lemon Shortbread Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 100 g unsalted butter (do not use margarine)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 heaping tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons water, if needed

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius

  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper

  3. Combine the flour, sugar, butter, egg, and lemon zest in a bowl and mix until blended

  4. Gradually add the water until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the hands

  5. Shape the dough into small balls and flatten each with a fork

  6. Bake until the bottoms are golden
