Braided Sweet Bread with Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 7 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 heaping tablespoons active dry yeast
  • Optional: aniseed
  • Flour as needed to achieve dough consistency (approximately 1.5 kg)

Covering

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • Sugar to taste

Preparation

  1. Place all ingredients except flour in a blender and blend well, then transfer to a bowl and add flour gradually

  2. Knead the dough thoroughly and add aniseed if desired

  3. Shape the dough into braids

  4. Let the braids rise in a baking tray until doubled in size

  5. Bake in a moderate oven until done

  6. After baking, poke the braids and cover with condensed milk, then sprinkle with sugar

Tips

  1. If desired, fill the braids with guava paste before baking for added flavor
