Karaköy Style Turkish Poğaça

Ingredients

  • 250 grams butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs (one yolk for brushing)
  • 4.5 cups flour (200 ml cup measure)
  • 1 tea glass warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients to form a dough and knead it.

  2. Let the dough rest for 1 hour.

  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.

  4. Brush the pieces with the egg yolks.

  5. Shape them with a fork to give the original form.

  6. Let them rest for another 15 minutes.

  7. Bake in a preheated 190-degree Celsius oven for 20 minutes.

  8. Serve and enjoy.
