Barbecue Chickpeas with Rice and Avocado

Ingredients

  • 2 tbs tomato puree
  • 3 tbs maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vegan Worcester sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic puree
  • 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cider vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbs of water to thin it out
  • a little coconut sugar after you have tasted it
  • 1 can of chickpeas

Preparation

  1. Rinse and dry the chickpeas with a kitchen towel.

  2. Place chickpeas in air fryer for around 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees. Keep checking on them and giving them a toss to ensure even cooking on all sides.

  3. For the sauce, combine all of the ingredients and mix well. Taste it to make sure it's to your flavor preference.

  4. Once the chickpeas are ready, they should have a little crunch on the outside and still be soft in the middle.

  5. Warm a little of the sauce over low heat and toss the chickpeas in there to get them nicely coated.

  6. Serve with your favorite sides such as rice, avocado, and greens for a delicious meal.
