Churro-Style French Toast
Ingredients
- 8 thick slices of day-old brioche or challah bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Butter, for frying
Preparation
Cinnamon-sugar
Combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 2 tsp ground cinnamon in a shallow dish and set aside
Custard
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl
Cooking
Dip each slice of bread in the custard for 30 seconds per side
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook bread until golden brown, 3-4 minutes per side
Dredge hot French toast in the cinnamon-sugar mixture
Enjoy warm with toppings like berries, whipped cream, or maple syrup
