Layered Kofta and Potato Bake
Ingredients
- 6 large potatoes
- 5 large tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 1 tablespoon mixed spices
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 500 grams ground meat
- 1 large chopped onion
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 cup chopped parsley
- 1 cup water or tomato juice
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Prepare a medium-sized baking tray or dish.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into 4 mm slices.
Cut the tomatoes into 3 mm slices.
Cut the onion into 3 mm slices.
Place all the spices in a bowl.
Mix the ground meat with the chopped onion, crushed garlic, chopped parsley, and some of the spice mixture to form the kofta mixture.
Sprinkle some spices on the potatoes.
Arrange the potatoes in a gradual layer at the bottom and sides of the tray.
Place some onion slices on the potatoes.
Sprinkle some spices.
Place half of the kofta mixture as a layer.
Distribute some tomato slices on the kofta.
Sprinkle some spices.
Distribute some onion slices.
Shape the remaining kofta into a second layer.
Cover the kofta with potato slices.
Pour olive oil over the potatoes.
Add water or tomato juice.
Cover the tray with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for one hour or until the kofta is cooked. Remove the foil a few minutes before the end of cooking time to brown the surface.
