Ingredients
- 500g flour (5 level cups)
- 150g powdered sugar (1.5 cups)
- 50g shortening or cream fat (biskin oil, preparation explained in another source)
- 200g margarine or 250g butter (use butter for better taste)
- 10g baking powder (1 packet)
- 2 eggs
- 50g ground hazelnuts (2 heaping tablespoons, optional for flavor)
- 5g vanilla (1 packet)
Optional add-ins
- Cinnamon, ginger, lemon zest, orange zest, or other flavors to taste
- Grapes for raisin cookies
- Chocolate chips or pieces for chocolate cookies
- Cocoa powder (reduce flour amount accordingly for chocolate variation)
Preparation
Ensure the fat is at room temperature.
Mix all the ingredients together to form a soft yet firm dough.
Shape the dough into desired forms.
Preheat the oven to 160°C.
Bake the shaped dough for exactly 14 minutes; the cookies should not brown.
Allow the cookies to cool completely before handling or serving.
