Butter Cookies with Royal Icing
Ingredients
- 250g butter
- 115g icing sugar
- 150g corn flour
- 350g wheat flour
- 25g milk powder
- 1 egg yolk
Royal icing
- 2 egg whites
- 175g icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons corn flour
Preparation
Mix butter, sugar, and egg yolk with a wooden spoon until smooth.
Add corn flour and mix until combined.
Add wheat flour and knead until it does not stick to hands.
Roll out the dough and cut into shapes using a mold.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Add icing sugar to the egg whites and mix until shiny and thick.
Add 2 tablespoons corn flour to the mixture and beat until stiff enough that it does not fall when the bowl is inverted.
Pipe the royal icing onto the shaped biscuits using a piping bag and decorate as desired.
Bake the biscuits at 150°C for 15 minutes, monitoring the temperature and lowering it if necessary.

Adjust baking time and temperature based on oven performance to avoid over-browning.
