Fried Cheese-Stuffed Potato Balls

Ingredients

Potato dough

  • 500 grams of potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

Filling

  • 100 grams of mozzarella cheese, cubed

Batter

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup of flour

Breading

  • 2 cups of white breadcrumbs

For frying

  • corn oil

Preparation

  1. Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes, and boil until soft.

  2. Place the warm potatoes in a bowl and mash them until smooth.

  3. Add the flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and mix to form a smooth dough.

  4. Shape the mixture into 2-inch balls and flatten each into a 2-inch disk.

  5. Cut the cheese into 1-inch cubes.

  6. Place a cheese cube in the center of each disk, wrap it with the potato mixture, and shape into a smooth ball.

  7. Repeat the shaping process for the remaining mixture.

  8. Chill the balls in the refrigerator for one hour to set.

  9. In a deep bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and salt, then add the flour and stir to make a liquid sauce.

  10. Dip each ball in the coating mixture and ensure it is well coated.

  11. Transfer the coated ball to the breadcrumbs and roll lightly to coat.

  12. Heat the corn oil in a deep skillet.

  13. Fry the balls until they are golden brown.
