4-Ingredient Banana Cream Caramel

Ingredients

  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 large or 5 medium bananas
  • 2 cups milk (400 ml)

Optional

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

  1. Heat sugar and water in a pan over medium heat until it caramelizes and turns golden brown.

  2. In a blender or bowl, mash the bananas and mix with eggs, milk, and vanilla if using.

  3. Pour the caramel into a heatproof dish, then add the banana mixture on top.

  4. Cook the mixture either over a pot of boiling water on the stove or bake in the oven until set and firm.

Tips

  1. Stovetop cooking in boiling water results in a moist texture, while oven baking makes it firmer and less watery.

  2. Taste the mixture before cooking; if it's not sweet enough, add more sugar or honey as needed.
