Turkish Hazelnut Cookies with Nut Coating
Ingredients
- 200 grams room temperature softened margarine or butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 small tea glass vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 vanilla
- 1 baking powder
- 1 egg (yolk for dough, white for coating)
- 4 cups flour plus 1 tablespoon flour
Topping
- Egg white (separated)
- Hazelnut crumbs
- Walnut crumbs (optional)
Preparation
Set aside the egg white and add the yolk to the dough mixture
In a mixing bowl, add all ingredients except flour and mix well
Gradually add flour to form a soft dough that does not stick to hands
Shape the dough into small balls
Dip the balls first in egg white then in hazelnut or walnut crumbs
Place on a greased tray or use parchment paper
Preheat oven to 180°C and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown
Tips
Flour amount may vary depending on the brand, adjust until dough does not stick
Can be made plain without nuts if desired
