Homemade Plum and Orange Syrups
Ingredients
Plum syrup
- 225g dried pitted plums
- 300g filtered water
- 150g refined sugar
- Optional spices such as cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, to taste
Orange syrup
- 40g orange peel (from 2 large oranges)
- 100g orange juice (freshly squeezed and strained)
- 200g refined sugar
Preparation
Plum syrup
Place all ingredients in a pan, mix, and cook over medium or low heat for about 15 minutes until the mixture reduces by half.
Orange syrup
Place all ingredients in a pan, mix, and cook over medium or low heat until it reaches weak syrup stage at 100°C to 105°C.
Let it cool in the pan and strain.
Storage tips
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 10 days.
