Orange Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup warm milk, room temperature
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 packet vanilla
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2.5 cups flour, sifted

Preparation

  1. Beat the 4 eggs and 1 cup granulated sugar until frothy and white.

  2. Add the room temperature milk, vegetable oil, zest and juice of 2 oranges, poppy seeds, vanilla, baking powder to the flour and stir to combine.

  3. Add this mixture to the egg-sugar mixture and mix with a mixer on low speed without overmixing to avoid deflating the batter.

  4. Pour the batter into a greased cake mold.

  5. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven; do not open the oven for the first 20 minutes to prevent the cake from sinking.

  6. Remove from oven when a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cake to cool, then invert it onto a plate.

Tips

  1. Use 125 ml for tea cup measurements and 200 ml for water cup measurements as specified.
