Orange Cake
Ingredients
- 4 eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup warm milk, room temperature
- Zest of 2 oranges
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 packet vanilla
- 1 packet baking powder
- 2.5 cups flour, sifted
Preparation
Beat the 4 eggs and 1 cup granulated sugar until frothy and white.
Add the room temperature milk, vegetable oil, zest and juice of 2 oranges, poppy seeds, vanilla, baking powder to the flour and stir to combine.
Add this mixture to the egg-sugar mixture and mix with a mixer on low speed without overmixing to avoid deflating the batter.
Pour the batter into a greased cake mold.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven; do not open the oven for the first 20 minutes to prevent the cake from sinking.
Remove from oven when a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool, then invert it onto a plate.
Tips
Use 125 ml for tea cup measurements and 200 ml for water cup measurements as specified.
