Soft and Fluffy Eggless Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2/3 cup + 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon butter

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients together to form a dough.

  2. Knead the dough briefly until smooth.

  3. Proof the dough for 1 hour.

  4. Shape the dough into burger bun balls.

  5. Proof the shaped buns for another 1 hour.

  6. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  7. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until done.

  8. After baking, apply butter generously over the buns and cover with a slightly wet cloth for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Baking tips

  1. Grease the butter paper with butter or oil before placing the buns to prevent sticking.

  2. Brush the buns with sweetened milk (milk with added sugar) before baking for color and flavor.

  3. Buns can also be baked in a kadhai or pressure cooker on low flame for 15-20 minutes, similar to baking a cake.
