Quick 10-Minute Turkish Phyllo Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough (for one tray)
  • Walnuts or pistachios

Syrup

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • Quarter lemon

Topping

  • 250 grams butter or margarine

Preparation

  1. Prepare the syrup by boiling 3 cups powdered sugar, 4 cups water, and a quarter lemon for 20 minutes, then set it aside to cool.

  2. Remove the phyllo dough from the package, roll it into a log, and cut it into three equal parts.

  3. For each part, place nuts between the layers to form a single layer and crinkle it with your hands.

  4. Fold both ends inward for each piece.

  5. Brush the entire dessert with melted butter or margarine.

  6. Preheat the oven to 220°C and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  7. Immediately after removing from the oven, pour the cold syrup over the hot dessert evenly.

  8. Let it rest for 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  1. One package of phyllo dough can make two trays of this dessert.
