Brazilian Cornmeal Cake with Guava

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • fennel seeds to taste

For layering

  • guava paste pieces

Preparation

  1. Blend the egg, milk, oil, sugar, and cornmeal in a blender until smooth

  2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and stir in the flour and baking powder

  3. Pour a layer of batter into a buttered and floured pan

  4. Add a layer of guava paste pieces

  5. Repeat the layers of batter and guava paste until the pan is full

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C for 40 minutes
